Thies, October 10, according to the Senegalese press agency(APS)- Kalidou Koulibaly, defender and captain of Senegal is for the organization of a world cup competition every 2 years, which according to him will offer more opportunities for African teams to participate in this great world football feast.

« It’s something positive as regards the number of African teams, said the captain of the Terranga Lions after the 2022 world cup qualifier game  Senegal vs Namibia (4-1).

« 5 African teams at the world cup competition every 2 years, will also wipe out friendly encounters’,he said hoping that this new idea of a world cup every 2 years « will work out well »with the calendars of the different clubs. We have been playing so many  matches already and with this new idea, we shall have fewer matches to play »He said calling on the analysis of this idea in seeking the opinions of as many players as possible. The opinions of players and coaches should be sought out in preference to those of Presidents of different Federations, the Senegalese defender estimated.

The opinion of Senegal’s head coach is contrary to that of the  captain and defender. FIFA pushes for the organization of her king sports, the world cup every 2 years and her proposal sets up interrogations and opposition from UEFA.If this idea defended by the French technician,Arsene Wenger,is not backed up by UEFA’s Top management, that’s not the case with all the presidents of different Federations of this continent.

The president of the French football federation (FFF),Noel le Graët has declared not being against this idea.
